About GrunTea:

Where can I buy a cup of GrunTea?2021-03-09T13:31:52+10:00

We are a new business, and are just rolling out our spiffy new teas. If you have a local café where you’d love to drink our tea, please ask them to contact us about stocking it!

  • The LillyPad Cafe in Glebe, Sydney serves both our teas. Laszio and his beautiful wife Nyoka have created an oasis in Glebe. Check out their menu online and if you are in Glebe – be sure to pop in and order a cup of GrunTea!  https://www.lillipadcafesydney.com/
  • We are pleased to announce that Snoogies Health Bar in Cairns serves both the Nettle and Green Tea versions of GrunTea! Aron and Nuri were keen to offer this healthy drink to their customers and it compliments their awesome range of healthy vegan food beautifully! They are found in the arcade at 82 Grafton St Cairns. They are open Mon-Fri 9am till 2pm. Here is their FB page if you want to check them out! https://www.facebook.com/SnoogiesHealthBar/

We are contacting new cafes all the time, so watch this space for more locations soon!

If you are curious about a taste test, come see us at the Yungaburra Markets (4th Sat of every month, and 3rd sun in dec) and get a free taste of our tea and have a chat with us – we’d love to see you!

Why the cartoonish splot logo for GrunTea?2019-02-16T12:15:08+10:00

Surely we can be mature, responsible, environmentally sensitive and productive, all while being bold, colourful, funny and light-hearted – in fact it could be said that a person or business who embodies too much seriousity will be so crushed under the weight of these heavy attitudes, that they will forget the joy of living!

The world needs us to stand vibrantly in our power and dare to be bold – and especially to stop taking everything, and ourselves, so seriously.

At GrunTea Emporium we have taken light-heartedness to heart, right down to our branding!

Can I take or send GrunTea overseas?2019-02-16T12:16:55+10:00

Sure! We would love you to spread the GrunTea love internationally! All you need to be aware of is your particular country’s quarantine laws. As far as we are aware, there is nothing in GrunTea that should pose you any import problems. Keeping it in it’s original packaging would be very helpful if you need it inspected at the gates. If posting to a loved one, just declare it as a dried tea powder and all should be fine. If you are still not sure, then please search the internet to get more details regarding importing tea into your country.

Can I steep my GrunTea in a teapot?2019-02-16T12:18:04+10:00

We don’t recommend simply steeping GrunTea in a teapot with boiled water – as it does not hold sustained heat sufficiently to create the Grunt Factor! You’ll get an utterly beige cuppa if you do this. Do so at your own taste buds peril! Better to prepare in a saucepan if you cannot put your teapot on the stove and maintain a boil for 30 seconds. Please see our Brewing GrunTea page for all the details on brewing the best cuppa!

Why do I need to use fresh ginger?2019-02-16T12:19:09+10:00

We love all things fresh and tasty here at the Emporium, and when using dried ginger, there was just no grunt! Alchemy of flavour is what we are all about, and the fresh ginger adds a zing like nothing else, while complimenting the tea and spices so well that it’s just awesome … even if we do say so ourselves.
Give it a go and you will soon know exactly what we are talking about!

What sweeteners should I use?2019-01-20T10:56:35+10:00

We recommend using Rapadura/Panela (evaporated cane sugar), as it is only lightly processed, loaded with nutrients and minerals, and not overly sweet. You can however, use whatever sweeteners you like – some of our more hardened chai lovers go sweetener free – they are sweet enough already apparently!! (Someone had to say it!)

How do I remove turmeric stains?2019-02-16T12:40:27+10:00

You know that when you have turmeric in your life, it is inevitable that some powder or tea will get somewhere it shouldn’t. It’s a bummer. It happens to us all. The good news is you are not alone – so don’t beat yourself up about it. The bad news is, that it can be a real pain to remove!! (You should try making this stuff in bulk quantities! We are all a shade of yellow by the end of each session LOL.)

Seriously though, for us, a bit of Gumption paste on a soft scourer nearly always does the trick, but thanks to this incredibly helpful webpage https://www.thespruceeats.com/removing-turmeric-stains-1957694, there is a glimmer of hope for even those not blessed with Gumption. For those who are reluctant to click on random web links, here is the info below for you  …  you’re welcome 🙂

Cleaning Turmeric Stains on Clothing and Linens

You will want to act fast, treating it as soon as you notice you’ve spilled some on your clothing or kitchen linens. Ideally, you should treat the stain before it has a chance to dry out. As with most stains, hot water will cause it to set and should be avoided. Instead, get cool water and soap or laundry detergent. Dab the stain rather than rubbing it.

If you are in a restaurant or somewhere without access to laundry detergent, ask for lemon juice or a lemon and apply the juice to the stain for 15 minutes, then rinse. You can also apply an ice cube to the stain if you’re not able to pour water on it (and especially if you’re still wearing the item of clothing).

If the garment can tolerate bleach, soaking in a mild bleach solution is the best way to get the stain out. Otherwise, apply liquid detergent for 20 minutes or soak in a cool pre-soak bath with laundry detergent for 20 minutes.

After soaking, wash the stained clothes or kitchen linen immediately in cool water and soap. Dry in the sun and the stain will fade. Then wash the article again, and the stain should be gone. Further time allowing the garment or linens to sit in the sun will fade the stain.

Cleaning Turmeric Stains on Dishes and Countertops

Bleach or vinegar can be used to get stains out of plastic, glass, or glazed ceramic dishes and blender or food processor bowls. Use a 2 to 1 water to bleach ratios, such as 2 cups of hot water and 1 cup of bleach.

For countertops, you will need to check instructions for the type of material to ensure you are using something safe. A paste of baking soda and water is useful on most surfaces. Apply it to an inconspicuous area and let it sit for 15 minutes, then lightly scrub and wipe clean. Lemon juice or vinegar may also be used.

Does boiling the tea to reheat it increase the Tannin?2019-01-20T10:39:25+10:00

Yes it does if you reheat your tea with the GrunTea powder still in the pot. If you are sensitive to, or are concerned about tannin levels, we recommend you strain out the leaf mix before reheating. For us other folk who love our grunt, we say ‘bring on those grunty tannins and spices – gimme what you got!’ And happily reheat our tea with the powder still in the pot.

Is GrunTea gluten free?2019-01-08T15:51:31+10:00

Yes. All of our ingredients are 100% gluten-free, naturally.

However it is important to know that our tea is manufactured in a commercial kitchen where bread and other gluten-containing products are served, so there may be a small chance of contamination. We take every precaution possible to avoid this, however we cannot guarantee there are no traces that could affect you.

I have a café, can I serve GrunTea?2019-02-16T12:25:41+10:00

Yes you really can! In fact we would love you to, and your customers will love you to – although you haven’t discovered that yet. That may be a little blatant self-promotion lol.
Contact us for information on purchasing our economically priced Barista Packs. The packs come with an A4 laminated sheet of brewing instructions for all versions of GrunTea you can serve in your café! You’ll also find barista brewing instructions on our brewing page.

Can I retail GrunTea through my store, or at an event?2019-02-16T13:50:34+10:00

Yes you can. Contact us for a wholesaler application, or to discuss your needs for your next event.

What milks/mylks are best to use in GrunTea?2019-02-16T12:26:57+10:00

You can serve our tea with any milk of preference, however GrunTea and coconut milk are a divine flavour combo, and the healthy fats in coconut increase the bioavailability and absorption of curcumin, the active ingredient of turmeric. Hence we suggest Pureharvest Coco Quench, as it is a match made in heaven. Some peculiar folk even like their GrunTea Chai without milk!

How do I brew GrunTea?2019-01-20T09:52:48+10:00

There are simple to follow instructions contained in each packet of GrunTea and you will find the brewing instructions page here which includes a video for your convenience.

If you get this wrong, the DeiTeas may just smite you! LOL 🙂

Are your ingredients organic?2019-01-20T09:53:22+10:00

All of our ingredients, yes every single one, are Australian Certified 100% Organic.

What does GrunTea taste like?2021-07-01T10:16:53+10:00

Let’s start with the basics, GrunTea is a Spiced Chai – so it is rich and spicy! Beyond this… if we are talking about the Green Tea Chai, it has an underlying tart crispness not dissimilar to coffee, and with the Nettle Tea Chai, it has an underlying earthy smoothness. Both varieties benefit from the addition of fresh ginger which brings the tea to life for your taste buds.
In the end, we can talk about the flavour till the moon turns blue, but really you just need to dive in and taste it for yourself!

Go on… you know you want to! Here’s the link to our shop page! LOL

What is in GrunTea?2019-01-08T16:04:55+10:00

In the packet you will find our alchemically magical and highly secret blend of 7 spices (no herbs lol) and tea. But if you really want to know… click here to be taken to our Healthful Benefits page, which lists all the ingredients and their key actions and traditional uses for well-being.
